A Brief History of the Lutheran Church Of Our Savior

The Mount Pocono Mission started public worship in a rented second-floor "Chapel Room" in the Mount Pocono Municipal Building on Pentecost, June 2, 1963, at 11:00 am. Attendance was 87. The Rev. Melvin Pingel was our first Pastor. The official date of the organization of the Lutheran Church Of Our Savior was December 1, 1963, the First Sunday in Advent. In 1964 the congregation joined the Missouri Synod. Land was purchased, parsonage built, and the Chapel Cornerstone was laid on May 16, 1965.
Lutheran Church Of Our Savior along with The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod accepts all the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and subscribes unconditionally to all the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God. We accept the Lutheran Confessions as articulated in the Book of Concord of 1580 because they are drawn from the Word of God and on that account regard their doctrinal content as a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture and as authoritative for all pastors, congregations and other rostered church workers of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

The Lutheran Confessions include:
•The Three Ecumenical or Universal Creeds
•The Augsburg Confession
•The Defense of the Augsburg Confession
•The Large Catechism
•The Small Catechism
•The Smalcald Articles
•Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope
•The Epitome of the Formula of Concord
•The Solid Declaration of the Formula of Concord

On July 22, 2007 Peter A. Richert was ordained and installed as our Pastor, and amazingly he's still here, we haven't scared him off yet.
